Main Character of Story ➦
In this chapter 2 main characters, Lencho and the postmaster play a very important role in this chapter. Lencho was a poor farmer and he believes in god so much. Postmaster becomes a god for Lencho. So let’s come to the story.
What happens with Lencho field ➦
Lencho lives in a valley with their wife and 2 children. In this valley, no other house expects Lencho’s house. Lencho sow corn in his field and his field promised a good harvest but his field needs water.
Then in the north-east giant, a huge cloud came and cover all sky. The rain was the start and a strong wind began to blow and along with the rain, a very large hailstone began to fall.
Lencho wishes to god to stop this hailstone but after one hour his cornfield was blank means nothing left in his field except hailstone all field looks like a white sheet.
Condition of Lencho family ➦
Lencho and his family were very bad and for several months they have nothing to eat(no food). Lencho’s wife says to Lencho that no one dies of hunger, Lencho says everyone says no one dies of hunger but this is not the real truth.
The following Sunday, in very early in the morning he began to write a letter which he himself would carry to town and to post. It was nothing less than a letter to god.
Lencho writes a letter to god and if god does not help Lencho then Lencho’s family will die due to hunger this year. Lencho says I need 100pesos(1Rs.) to sow my field again and to live until the crop comes, because of the hailstorm.
What Lencho write in the letter ➦
He starts writing a letter to god and that letter he writes due to hailstorm my field was blank and this year I have no food to eat so please give me 100 pesos to live next season.
And after writing the letter he keeps in an envelop, and after stamping the letter he dropped into the mailbox. When one employee of the postoffice read Lencho’s letter then he starts laughing and when his boss read this letter then he laughing heartily because never in his career as a postman had he known that address.
But a postmaster that was fatty read this letter he was also laughing but very soon he becomes serious and tapping the letter on his desk and said ‘Lencho faith does not break from god so postmaster takes the decision to collect 100pesos.
How postmaster collect 100pesos ➦
Some money from his salary and other employees, after collecting from everyone they collect only 70 pesos so postmaster keeps this money in an envelope’ and on enveloping he does the signature name of god and sends it to Lencho address.
Next Sunday when Lencho reached the post office he asks about his mail then employees say yes your mail comes and he gives the post to Lencho, Lencho to open the post and when he sees money in the envelop then he was not surprised because he fully hopes for money.
What happens when Lencho count money ➦
When Lencho starts counting the money he was angry because he demands 100pesos but he has only 70pesos.
Then he takes a copy and pen from postoffice and repeats write a letter to god and say god you send me 100pesos I know but post office employees steal the money please send left 30pesos but this time money does not send by mail.
